The Strangeness Magnetic Moment of the Proton in the Chiral Quark Model
نویسندگان
چکیده
The strangeness magnetic moment of the proton is shown to be small in the chiral quark model. The dominant loop contribution is due to kaons. The K∗ loop contributions are proportional to the difference between the strange and light constituent quark masses or m−2 K∗ and therefore small. The loop fluctuations that involve radiative transitions between K∗ mesons and kaons are small, when the cut-off scale in the loops is taken to be close to the chiral symmetry restoration scale. The net loop amplitude contribution to the strangeness magnetic moment of the proton is about −0.05, which falls within the uncertainty range of the experimental value.

Strangeness in the Nucleon
There are several different experimental indications, such as the σπN term, strange spin polarization, strangeness contribution to the magnetic moment of the proton, ratio of strange and non strange quark flavor distributions which suggest that the nucleon contains a hidden strangeness component which is contradictory to the naive constituent quark model. Chiral constituent quark model with con...
متن کاملThe Strange Magnetic Moment of the Proton in the Chiral Quark Model
The strange magnetic moment of the proton is small in the chiral quark model, because of a near cancellation between the quantum fluctuations that involve kaons and s-quarks and loops that involve radiative transitions between strange vector mesons and kaons.
متن کاملStrangeness Form Factors of the Proton in the Chiral Quark Model
The chiral quark model describes the strangeness components of the light quarks as fluctuations into strange mesons and quarks. The single strange pseudoscalar and vector meson loop fluctuations of the constituent u-and d-quarks give rise to only very small strangeness form factors for the proton. This result is in line with recent experimental results, given their wide uncertainty range.
متن کاملPrecise determination of the strangeness magnetic moment of the nucleon.
By combining the constraints of charge symmetry with new chiral extrapolation techniques and recent low mass quenched lattice-QCD simulations of the individual quark contributions to the magnetic moments of the nucleon octet, we obtain a precise determination of the strange magnetic moment of the proton. The result, namely, G(s)(M)=(-0.046 +/- 0.019)mu(N) is consistent with the latest experimen...
متن کاملHypercentral Constituent Quark Model and Isospin for the Baryon Static Properties
So far the static properties of hadrons have been introduced in various models. The static properties of hadrons (charge radius, magnetic moment, etc.) are useful for understanding the quark structure of hadron. In this work we have introduced the hypercentral constituent quark and isospin dependent potentials. Here constituent quarks interact with each other via a potential in which we have ta...
